Hebe Blue Star awarded at The Award of Garden Merit (AGM)

A 3 years trial of ‘shrubby’ Veronica (formerly Hebe) has led to 9 new Awards of Garden Merit.

Hebe Blue Star (‘Vergeer1’) was one of them and has been given the AGM for its beautiful dense habit, uniformity and healthiness.

The Award of Garden Merit (AGM) is a long-established annual award for plants by the British Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). It is based on assessment of the plants’ performance under UK growing conditions. The AGM is intended to help gardeners choose plants that are likely to perform well, and is only awarded to plants that are! During this trial, temperatures were sometimes very low (-8°) and few plants survived the test. Hebe Blue Star did survive these low temperatures!

Hebe Blue Star is a protected variety (EU/UK pbr), Valkplant manages the grower licensee network on behalf of the breeder-finder Leo Vergeer.
