Valkplant wins awards at Plantarium|Groen Direct 2026 including Best Novelty for Proven Winners® Mahonia JungleWhisper™
At the Plantarium | GroenDirect autumn trade fair, all the new varieties entered by Valkplant won awards! In total, Valkplant’s entries won no fewer than six KVBC medals. Mahonia (‘BBM9’) JungleWhisper™, a variety developed by Anne Bulk-Bryla of BB Botanics, won a KVBC Gold Medal and also the Green Retail Award for Best Novelty.
The following plants won awards:
- KVBC Gold medal & Best Novelty:
- Mahonia (‘BBM9’) JungleWhisper™: a new, evergreen Mahonia with a compact, bushy habit, striking red young shoots and abundant flowers in summer & autumn.
- KVBC Silver medal:
- Rhododendron (‘2008-D7’) Glendoick® Wonderred®: stands out for its combination of striking flowers and distinctive foliage.
- Hydrangea arborescens ‘SMNHAGOV’ Incrediball® Stormproof™: combines a dense, compact growth habit with very strong branches and exceptionally abundant flowering.
- KVBC Bronze medal:
- Chitalpa ‘NCXC1’ El Nino: a hybrid between Chilopsis and Catalpa with abundant and prolonged flowering featuring striking purple flowers.
- Diervilla splendens (‘SMNDSD’) Kodiak® Red 2.0: features red young shoots that continue to appear throughout the season.
- Syringa ‘SMNSPH’ Bloomerang® Ballet: a lilac with very vigorous repeat flowering and fragrant pink flowers.
